1. What is The Macallan 40 Years Old - 2017 Release?

The Macallan 40 Years Old – 2017 Release is a new limited edition whisky which marks the pinnacle of the Sherry Oak Cask Range. It is a rich and intense rare single malt matured for a minimum of 40 years in a combination of sherry seasoned European and American oak casks, to create a distinctive style.


2. What are the tasting notes of The Macallan 40 Years Old – 2017 Release?
Nose: Sultanas with gingers and wood spice. A background of sweet cinnamon and citrus emerges.
Palate: Opens with soft cinnamon spices, quickly developing into a mouth coating of date and figs.
Finish: Long, rich with a lingering cinnamon spice.

4. What extra charges might apply for delivery to my chosen country?
All alcohol products sold by The Macallan Online Shop are sold subject to UK alcohol tax. If we are exporting products to an address in the European Union (EU) prices are subject to the appropriate rate of VAT and alcohol tax depending on the delivery country.

For all deliveries outside of the EU, UK VAT will not be charged. However, your order will be subject to local sales taxes and duties upon arrival in your chosen country, which are levied at the time the package clears customs. All additional charges are the responsibility of the recipient. As customs policies vary widely from country to country, The Macallan Online Shop has no control over these charges. Please contact your local customs office for further information.

6. How do I buy The Macallan 40 Years Old – 2017 Release? 
Entry to the ballot is open to all. Newsletter subscribers will be invited to register for the chance to purchase a bottle from The Macallan Online Shop on the 20th February 2018. Those not registered on the database can enter the ballot here

7. When is registration open? 
Registration will open on Tuesday 20th February 2018 and will close at 23.59pm (UK time) on Tuesday 27th February 2018.

8. How will I know if I'm successful in registering for the chance to purchase a bottle?
After successfully registering for a bottle you will see an onscreen message and you will receive a confirmation email from The Macallan shortly after. If you have not received a confirmation email, please check your SPAM box. If the email is not in your SPAM box please email shop@themacallan.com for assistance. 

9. How will I know I’ve been successful in obtaining the chance to purchase a bottle?
After registration has closed, all registered customers will be entered into a ballot to be randomly selected for the opportunity to purchase a bottle of The Macallan 40 Years Old – 2017 Release. From Monday 5th March 2018 consumers selected from the ballot will receive an email providing a link to purchase. This link will be valid for 72 hours and allows the purchase of a single bottle of The Macallan 40 Years Old – 2017 Release. We aim to inform all applicants by the end of March if they have been successful. 

10. How many bottles can I order online?
Online orders are restricted to one bottle per person. This limitation is to ensure The Macallan 40 Years Old – 2017 Release is available to as many consumers as possible.

12. When will I receive my bottle?
The time for delivery will vary depending on the selected country however we expect most orders to be delivered within 10 working days. If you have not received your bottle within 10 working days of ordering please contact email shop@themacallan.com.

13. Who will deliver my bottle?
Your order will be fulfilled by our fulfillment partners Mail Marketing UK and it will be delivered by DHL. You will receive a DHL shipment notification which will allow you to track your delivery. A signature will be required on delivery.
